Linda Dawe

Linda Dawe's career in the music business began in 1970 as a journalist for Canada's first music magazine, Beetle Publications.

In 1971 Linda moved on to Columbia/CBS Records Canada as part of the A&R team of "ears", Carolyn Cowan, Gary Muth and vice-president John Williams, who had signed the rock group Mashmakhan.

In 1974 Linda continued her tenure with the major labels as a promotion coordinator for MCA/Universal Records Canada, working under the direction of Scott Richards and Randy Sharrard.

In 1976 Ed Preston, president of RCA Records hired Linda as the first female promotion manager in Canada, reporting to vice-president Andy Nagy. After 2 years Linda hired Chris Allicock and together they handled promotion and publicity for artists like Bob Marley, Hall & Oates, and Elton John. At RCA Linda worked closely with independent producer and Juno award winner, Willi Morrison from the UK, the creative genius who developed THP Orchestra, THOR, and Grand Tour albums.

In 1980 she left the major corporate labels and started her own promotion company, Linda Dawe Associates, one of the first to promote artists on independent labels in Canada. She developed a relationship with radio programmers and managed to "break" into the hit charts with newcomers like Frankie & the Knockouts, Kix, Cruiser, and Don McLean's "Crying".

By 1987 LDA morphed into The Music Brokers where Linda hired Chris Allicock, Dulce Barbosa, and Nancy Mayer to promote the Gipsy Kings, Billy Vera, Blue Rodeo, Rita MacNeil, and newcomer Roch Voisine.

In 1990, with Scott Richards, former president of MCA/Universal and Freedom Records, Linda expanded into Music Solutions Inc promoting the careers of Roch Voisine, Emma Shapplin, Helmut Lotti, and Andre Gagnon.

By 2006 as manager and through associate Willi Morrison (Universal Music), Linda had secured major international record contracts for artists Matt Dusk and the RyanDan twins from Toronto.

Linda Dawe currently manages Christopher Dallo and promotes several independent artists.
