Considering that on average there are 34 Canadian established Rock bands in the Top-100 charts (maybe 3 or 4 in the Top-10), as an emerging independent artist you are competing with at least 50 Canadian acts on major labels. So even getting on the Top-500 charts is quite an accomplisment! Think about it - you are not only up against the world's Foo Fighters, Black Keys or Cold Play, but up against Canadian acts like Arcade Fire, Nickelback, Sheepdogs...

"Currents'' is a radio term to denote new songs on a weekly playlist. Some stations play as few as 5 currents, a few as many as 100 & varies with the number of spins per song. Once a song has played a certain numbers of weeks, it eventually slips (or not) into  ''recurrent'' or ''gold" rotation into a weekly spin list of say 500-760 songs where 80-90% are gold hits.
